WeedRoller FAQ
Q: How difficult is it to get a MN DNR permit to operate a WeedRoller?
A: Not difficult at all. The simple questionnaire and small fee can be done in about 15 minutes online. If you would like, WeedRollerJim can take care of the process for you.
Q: Is a permit always required to operate a WeedRoller?
A: No, it isn’t. Some private lakes are exempt from the permit process; also, some states, such as North Dakota, don’t require a permit.
Q: What should I consider when planning where the WeedRoller will go in the lake?
A: We can mount the WeedRoller just about anywhere on the dock; however, there are a few things to ask yourself when planning the location.
-
Is there a dock leg or support post at the location?
-
Will the WeedRoller be obstructed by a tire on the dock or lift?
-
How far will the WeedRoller powerhead be from the electrical plug-in?
-
How deep is the water at that location?
Each of these items of information will be beneficial to know when talking to WeedRollerJim about your purchase.
Q: Is the WeedRoller difficult to install?
A: Not at all; however, local purchases from WeedRollerJim include installation.
Q: Will the WeedRoller work in mud?
A: Of course. In fact, it will work to remove mud. If you find the WeedRoller is getting bogged down in mud, just give WeedRollerJim call. We’ll see if we can talk you through it.
Q: How much tubing can be run on a WeedRoller?
A: The WeedRoller Pro unit can go up to 42 feet. WeedRoller units prior to that were recommended to go no more than 35.
Q: How deep can the water be to operate my WeedRoller?
A: The water warning label is at 4.5 feet. There is, however, a deep water extension kit which raises the WeedRoller another 2.5 feet. Two extensions can be used safely.
Q: I have no electricity on my lake lot. Can a WeedRoller be run from a generator?
A: Yes, it can.
Q: I want to run my WeedRoller in an area which has no dock. Can this be done?
A: Yes, it can. There is a tripod mounting system available which allows for mounting the WeedRoller in an area without a dock.
Q: My WeedRoller doesn’t stop at one of my magnets. It rolls too far. What causes this?
A: Typically it’s caused because the magnets are not meeting. Try adjusting the magnet on the travel arm so it is closer to the magnet being missed. In the WeedRoller Pro system the circular traveling magnet would need to be lowered. In the conventional AC or DC WeedRoller setup, the traveling cylindrical magnet would need to be raised.
